England’s Economic Heartland is the sub-regional transport body for the region covering Swindon to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and North Northamptonshire to Hertfordshire. It has been responsible for a programme of connectivity studies that have examined key transport movements from across the region and have identified with partners a package of multimodal infrastructure interventions (rail, bus, road, active travel etc) to help achieve the regions overall transport vision of ‘supporting sustainable growth and improve quality of life through a decarbonised transport system’.
We will be joined by presenters: Abigail Nichols, James Gagg and Trevor Brennan who will present on the outcomes of this work, setting out what key transport priorities are being considered for the region.
The webinar will begin at 12.00.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the CIHT East of England region will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The AGM will be held virtually via Teams, by registering for this event you will receive a Teams meeting link via email.
The AGM offers us an opportunity to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next. It also provides an opportunity for CIHT members to hear about and get involved in the East of England region’s activities.
The AGM will see the region’s Chair reflect on the past year and the successes of the region, and will see the election of new committee members and will also see the appointment of the Chair and Officers to take forward the region’s plans for the next year.
If you wish to join the AGM, please use the 'book a place' button on this page, so that you can book your place to attend. Once you have booked your place via this webpage, you will receive a confirmation email that will contain a meeting link.
The AGM will begin at 13.00, following the webinar.
There are lots of benefits of getting involved with your local committee; CIHT’s regions and nations play a critical role for the Institution, acting as a focal point for members to meet and share their experiences locally. The regions and nations organise an annual programme of activities, which include CPD opportunities, seminars, site visits and social events. A more formal announcement will be made in the forthcoming weeks with details of the proposed elected office bearers and ordinary members of the committee.
If you a member of CIHT, and would like to take a proactive and voluntary role in helping run the local region please get in touch. We look to include a broad representation from across the relevant sectors – central and local government, private sector consultancy, contractors and academia. We would particularly welcome interest from emerging professionals who are either starting out in their career or who have recently become professional qualified to join our Emerging Professionals Group. Involvement in the committee will count towards Continuing Professional Development and can lead in the longer term to involvement in national CIHT activities.
If you are interested, and would like to find out more please get in touch with regions@ciht.org.uk
Nominations to join the committee can be made using the regional committee nomination form. Applications should be supported by four regional members and completed with a declaration by you the candidate to show you are willing to stand.
