CIHT South West comprises: Bournemouth; City of Bristol; Cornwall; Devon; Dorset; Gloucestershire; Guernsey; Isles of Scilly; Jersey; Plymouth; Poole; Somerset; Swindon; Torbay and Wiltshire. With the Cotswolds, Hardy’s Wessex, Dartmoor and Exmoor and the surfing beaches of Cornwall, it is hardly surprising that we are often host to other regions, most notably the CIHT Northern Ireland. South West organises a range of events across the year and currently have two Emerging Professional Committees in Exeter and Bristol, as well as the main committee covering the whole of the South West. Even if you’re not a member of CIHT, you’re still welcome to join us at any of our events.

We welcome new committee members at any time. Our meetings are held every two months on Teams. We would be delighted to hear from you. The committee incorporates a wide range of employers with a strong representation from consultants, central and local government. We are currently particularly looking for more representation from senior highway engineers.
If you wish to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact us via e: southwest@ciht.org.uk
Please connect with our LinkedIn page to keep up-to-date with all of the CIHT upcoming events in the South West, how to get involved in the committee, what's going on in the Transport & Highways space and much more.
CIHT Mentoring is available in the South West to all CIHT members interested in or working towards an Engineering Council or Chartered Transport Planning Professional registration. A friendly panel of mentors can be contacted, and a mentor assigned to you.
Our regional mentors provide advice, guidance, and encouragement to their mentees on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. Mentors will help their mentees identify the knowledge, skills, and experience for the relevant competence requirements of their professional qualification and advise on demonstrating this in the submission and at the professional review interview.
If you are interested in getting a mentor, you can request one here: Request a mentor.
If you are interested in mentoring, you can register to become a mentor here: Register to become a mentor.
The Region has an active Emerging Professionals Committee which organises a number of events throughout the year including a social get togethers. If you would like to get involved in organising an event or would like to join the Emerging Professionals Committee, please contact e: southwest@ciht.org.uk.
