Who can join?

This grade is available to those with a minimum of three years’ experience of working in highways and transportation.
When you are a Member, you can use the designation MCIHT after your name.

How much does it cost? 

Membership fees are adjusted depending on when you join in the year. For any queries, please contact e: membership@ciht.org.uk For a full list of fees please see our fees page

What you need before you apply

To ensure the online application process is as efficient as possible you will be asked to provide the following supporting evidence as part of your application:

  • CV
  • Details of employment history for last three years
  • List of academic qualifications
  • List of professional bodies you belong to (this is not mandatory)
  • Proposer and Seconder including:
    • The professional body they belong to
    • Email address.

The proposer and seconder should be Members or Fellows of CIHT or a recognised professional body in a related sector.

Your proposer and seconder must have consented for CIHT to contact them about your application.

Transportation Professional provides in-depth insight into the issues at the forefront of highways and transportation practice and the innovative solutions the industry is taking to tackle them.
Each member receives a copy of TP magazine and has access to a range of policies and documentation. Our resource centre allows you to find out more on our technical guidance, policy statements and general publications. 

Make a difference
As a Member, you have a voice in how your Institution is run – through voting at annual general meetings, extraordinary general meetings, and Elections, standing for elected positions, and committee membership.

CSCS Professionally qualified person card 
CIHT Members (MCIHT) are automatically eligible to apply for a CSCS Professionally qualified person card. All applicants must pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test or the alternative CIC Health and Safety Test.
