You can join as a student member if you have an interest in highways and transportation. Student membership is available to those studying at undergraduate level or for a postgraduate qualification.
You can join free if you are a full-time student. Students in employment who are enrolled on a part-time course of study are required to pay an annual membership fee.
When you complete your studies, you can qualify to become a Graduate Member (GradCIHT) for a reduced subscription fee of only £50 in their first year of membership.

Learn about the sector
As a student member, you will have free access (worth £50) to our accredited CIHT e-learning course, An introduction to highways and transportation. This course aims to fill knowledge gaps, providing a comprehensive understanding of the highways and transportation industry. It explains and maps the transportation infrastructure sector, who works in it, what they do, and how they engage with one another.
Stay informed
Transportation Professional provides in-depth insight into the issues at the forefront of highways and transportation practice and the innovative solutions the industry is taking to tackle them. Each student member receives a digital copy of TP.

We've put together a case study library to support you by providing sector best practice and examples of different approaches from across the sector. Collated from entries into the CIHT Awards showcasing the talent of our sector, all shortlisted entries are available since 2020 for you to use in your coursework and dissertation
Build connections
As a member, you can meet with other students and key industry professionals including leaders in business and government.
You can become part of the CIHT Emerging Professionals Network and the opportunity to book your place at the ground-breaking Emerging Professionals Conference.
Our national and regional groups are at the heart of the work we do. We have 12 regional groups across the UK, plus five for international members. As a member, you can join your local group, attend events, and get updates on activities in other regions.

Make a difference
Become a STEM Ambassador aligned to CIHT and undertake a minimum of 1 hour a year of STEM Ambassador activities. Volunteering is a good way to get noticed by future employers.
