Webinar led by the project team that delivered the multi award winning Forder Valley Link Road in Plymouth, Devon.
Hear about the scheme from the point of view of the client, designer, NEC project manager and contractor. The presentation will cover the strategic significance of the project, our approach to collaborative working, carbon reduction and climate resilience, challenges faced, value engineering and innovation alongside information on how we protected and enhanced the environment and social value added.
The presentation is relevant to anyone with an interest in the delivery of major transport schemes. In particular students, recent graduates, transport professionals and local authority transport officers.
Steve Flaxton, Strategic Transport Programme Coordinator - Plymouth City Council
Steve is an experienced transport planner with Plymouth City Council. As Strategic Transport Programme Coordinator, he oversees, is working on and has delivered a diverse range of transport projects across the city.
Steve acted as the client Project Manager throughout the Forder Valley Link Road project.
Cliff Francis, Project Manager - Balfour Beatty
Cliff is a Project Manager at Balfour Beatty. With a strong background in Civil Engineering, he has delivered projects in a variety of industries that include Highways, Water, Rail and Production.
Cliff led both the Highways and Earthworks teams during the construction phase of the Forder Valley Link Road project.
Simon West, Associate Director - WSP
Simon is a Civil Engineer with a wealth of experience within the contracting sector of the industry having worked in a variety of roles for major and regional civil engineering contractors. Previous experience has been gained through roles including site / project manager, design manager, temporary works manager and designer, M&E coordinator, planner and bid manager. A significant proportion of this experience is within the Design and Construct environment. He has experience in highways, structures, airports, marine works, power stations, water and wastewater treatment plants and building.
Simon undertook the role of NEC3 Project Manager for the Forder Valley Link Road project from pre-construction through to project completion.
