This session relates to analysis of the DfT road casualty datasets (STATS19 data), in particular focusing on the change to injury based reporting by some police forces, and the impact this has on the analysis of casualty severity including the adjustments published alongside the dataset.

The DfT road safety statistics team welcomes any feedback on the approach, and this session will offer the chance to discuss any element of the published road casualty data with members of the team.
This is event is open to all and will be of particular interest to data analysts of all levels and others that have an interest in working with STATS19 casualty data and would like to know more about the severity recording and adjustments.
Statistician at the Department for Transport - Road Safety Statistics team
Matthew is a government statistician, and leads the road safety statistics team at DfT. The team collates and compiles police collision data and shares this as widely as possible via statistical reports, open data and interactive tools, to support the evidence base for road safety policies.
