As part of the CIHT Presidential visit, on Friday 21 June 2024, there will be two site visits that are open to CIHT members in the Republic of Ireland.
Itinerary
09:45-12:30 - The Wayfinding Centre (Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, DO9 TC67)
13:00-14:00 - Lunch
14:30-15:30 - Iarnród Éireann National Train Control Centre (Heuston Station, Dublin)
The Wayfinding Centre
The Wayfinding Centre is an innovative, multi-functional centre which will be driven by the need to make transport accessible for everyone. People with an access need can be empowered through practical training and hands-on experience, knowledge and the opportunity to explore all aspects of transport in a safe and controlled environment.
Transport staff, built environment professionals, designers, academics and policy makers will have the opportunity to be upskilled and access resources. It is a space where all transport stakeholders bring unique perspectives to collaborate, co-create solutions, co-design foundations, develop views and test theories to ultimately ensure equity and inclusion are forefront of any transport development agenda.

Iarnród Éireann National Train Control Centre (NTCC)
The NTCC and the Traffic Management System (TMS) will play a crucial role in optimizing and enhancing the operations of Iarnród Éireann's train services. The integration of the NTCC and TMS represents a comprehensive strategy to modernize and optimize train control operations, ultimately leading to improved service quality, on-time delivery, and enhanced customer information provision for Iarnród Éireann.
The facility also comprises of the co-location of the emergency response unit of An Garda Síochána (AGS) plus the traffic control arrangements operated by Dublin City Council (DCC) into the NTCC. Both AGS and DCC will be located on Level 03 of the facility. Iarnród Éireann NTCC colleagues will work together as a team to control tasks, ranging from train control and regulation, incident response and service recovery, culminating in the provision of accurate real time passenger information through multiple customer communication channels
