Organised by CIHT South East, this hybrid event at the University of Greenwich's Medway Campus, Nelson 008, will give an overview of the M2 J5/A249 improvement scheme project and associated Social Value initiatives. By booking this event you will receive a Teams link.
This presentation will give an overview on the technical aspects of the project with a segment on the current works progress, as well as looking at the overall benefit of the project to the wider community. It will deal with the issues that have occurred on site in terms of design limitations and weather effects etc. with an overview of the project and experiences had on the project.
The talk will also look at social value and whether that should be at the forefront of everyone’s mind as we are now in world where the minimum weighting in the majority of tenders is 10% and could go as high as 40% in the future.
This will be followed by a Q an A session.
Those who are interested in finding out more about social value and how it affects civil engineering/construction. Anyone who is part of the tender process within their business.

Brandon Cooper
Site Engineer/ Civil Engineer at GRAHAM Construction
Brandon holds a Masters degree in Civil Engineering with professional experience (1st class), he has experience working on various projects including a £60m roads project in Congleton constructing 3 integral bridges on my year out placement. After graduating he worked on a £20m roads project in Little Hadham (A120) which was a Bypass with 2 Dams and 3 integral bridges as is currently working for Graham on the £100m M2 Junction 5 improvement which is a national highways project which has a flyover bridge, a 3-span arch bridge and a contiguous pile wall.
He has also played competitive rugby for the county of Warwickshire and has also worked at Arup in the transport planning and rail team for summer placements.
Sandra Saxton
Social Impact Partner at GRAHAM Construction
Sandra has worked in the social value arena for 10 years within the construction industry, the last 4 years with GRAHAM Construction as part of the civil engineering team working on National Highways projects. Additionally she also assists the bid team with responses and have recently been one of the scorers for the collaborative drainage procurement tender exercise across the RDP.
Ben Omoregbee
Site Agent at GRAHAM Construction
Ben is an experienced Civil Engineer with a heavy civils and water background. Some of his career achievements include the successful completion of a Road Bridge and Deep Drainage construction at the Olympic Park in 2011, site recognition for promoting Health and Safety on BAM Nuttall LPR Project at the Olympic Park and the successful completion of the Dover Sea Wall and opening of the Rail Track three months ahead of programme in 2016.
