Due to the train strikes taking place on 9 November, this event will now take place on 17 November.
This November will see the return of one of CIHT’s most successful events aimed at the future professionals in the highways, transportation, and infrastructure sector.
Being held at CIHT’s offices in London, this in-person event will see up to 60 invited young professionals take part in an informative, interactive, and fun event.
The intimate event will feature renowned speakers that will cover the issues that matter including climate action, embracing innovation, and making a difference.
The summit will see a series of plenary sessions and workshops that will enable attendees hear and discuss the key issues affecting the future of the highways, transportation, and infrastructure profession.
Due to the intimate nature of the summit, this event is by invitation only. CIHT members will be invited from across our Regional & National young and emerging professionals to attend.

Streets and roads make up three-quarters of all public space. This presentation will set out the basics of who does what in managing our streets. It will cover the work of DfT in street design policy, and touch on the role of local authorities and National Highways in the day-to-day management of our streets and roads. It will highlight some of the current projects and issues being looked at by the Department, including the update of the Manual for Streets.

This presentation will discuss the inclusive design of major projects, focusing on walking, wheeling, and cycling. The presentation will consider technical guidance, project examples and outline processes for engaging with disability groups. It will provide Young Professionals with an understanding of the importance of inclusive design, provide some considerations needed to ensure effective engagement with disability groups and provide some insights on the issues that can be faced when developing active travel projects.

This presentation will demonstrate how the use of Smart fill sensors can be used to increase both the monitoring of Highway assets, including but not limited too; the fill rate of Highway Street bins and gully pots, specifically silt levels as well as sensors to monitor the moisture levels in tree beds. The presentation will depict how the use of information will be able to formulate and drive decisions based on empirical data, predict potential precursors to significant events as well promote new insights to appropriate change and influence new undertakings in the way we operate.
