CIHT South East and Women in Transport, partnered by the Transport Employment and Skills Taskforce (TEST), are pleased to invite you to attend a lunchtime webinar on Friday 17th May at 1200 where we will be hosting a panel discussion on The Gender Pay Gap in the Transport Industry.
Women in Transport’s 2023 Equity Index report shows that the Gender Pay Gap in the transport sector is higher than the national average. Why is this and what can be done to address the issue in order to attract and retain women in the industry?
The panel for this webinar will include Sue Terpilowski OBE, Women in Transport Lead for the Equity Index and TBC, with other speakers and the panel chair to be confirmed.
The Equity Index Project, launched in 2023, is a pioneering initiative reshaping the transport sector by championing diversity and equity. The collaborative index establishes a vital baseline, recognising and rewarding best practices. This initiative extends beyond a mere index; it acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement, inspiring companies to drive positive change and foster a more equitable industry.
The Transport Employment and Skills Taskforce (TEST) was established by the Department for Transport in 2022. TEST is a partnership between industry & Government chaired by Rachel Skinner CBE. It comprises leading transport industry figures who are best placed to reflect the sector’s concerns on skills and the transport labour market. TEST’s role is to act as a convenor of industry and share best practice in supporting the sector to:
In this capacity, TEST will be partnering with Women in Transport (and others) to deliver a series of events that highlight topics of importance where we can learn from others within and beyond the transport sector. With Women in Transport, these events will focus on the findings from the Equity Index.
This will be an online panel discussion about the results from the Women in Transport Equity Index Report for 2023, focusing on the fact that the Gender Pay Gap in Transport is higher than the national average (58% of organisations that responded had a Gender Pay Gap greater than 11% compared to the national average of 7.7%).
Sue Terpilowski OBE, the Equity Index Lead, will give brief feedback from the 2023 index results and the panel will then discuss the Gender Pay Gap and what can be done to reduce it in the Transport industry.
