Michael Melton, Infrastructure Coordinator, Sustrans
After completing a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Michael spent several years working with one of Scotland’s largest Housing Associations. During this time, he further developed a desire to get involved in projects that actively shape urban environments, with a particular focus on how transport networks can create and entrench inequalities in the urban landscape, but also their ability to improve the lives of local residents. After joining Sustrans 18 months ago, he has been working with Glasgow City Council to help deliver 2 multi-million pound walking and cycling infrastructure projects. Now working as an Infrastructure Coordinator, he is responsible for a small team working across a variety of active travel projects in Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire.
Allan Maclean M.Sc. MCIHT, Cycling Officer, Glasgow City Council
Approaching 30 years of experience in active and sustainable transport, Allan has taken forward a multitude of walking and cycling schemes, from local access initiatives to major traffic management schemes. Key pieces of work have included project managing the delivery of a Commonwealth Games competition venue, publication of Glasgow’s Strategic Plan for Cycling and implementation of Glasgow’s first ‘City Way’ corridors, raising standards and public interest in active travel to an all-time high.
