The Silvertown Tunnel, a designated Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NISP), will be the first new road crossing east of Tower Bridge since the Dartford Crossing was built over 30 years ago.
The tunnel will have a dedicated lane for buses, coaches and heavy goods vehicles, meaning there will be a significant increase in the number of buses crossing the river and much greater opportunity to use public transport. Buildings above the tunnel entrances, and plans to improve walking, cycling and the urban environment, are also part of the major regeneration of both sides of the river.
During this site visit attendees will have the chance to walk through the close-to-completed tunnel and discuss the design, construction, and operations with the project team.
This event is aim at those with an interest in tunnel, civil & highway engineering, large-scale major infrastructure projects and traffic management within a tunnelled environment.
Delving into the understanding of why they are an essential traffic management tool in reducing the disbenefits of traffic and road congestion to neighbourhoods and improving our communities.
This is open to all at various stages of their career; from students through to experienced professionals.
For site security, passport or drivers licence will be required for the site visit. Full PPE will be provided and we will contact you regarding this near to the event date.
The meeting place for this event will be Riverlinx CJV Project Office, SE10 0FR. We will provide a meeting time when we contact you about PPE.
