SoRSA is pleased to announce its return to the in person Annual Conference in June this year.
This event will be of interest to anyone who is involved in Road Safety Audits and is based in the UK. Whether you are a Developer, Project Manager, Designer, or Auditor, you need to be here to make sure you are up to date and informed on the latest industry practice and to meet your CPD requirements.
The conference will be taking place in Manchester on 20-21 June 2022 and the Annual General Meeting will take place on 20 June.
As you will know, there is a planned rail strike due to take place on Tuesday 21 of June which could impact your ability to travel back home from this year’s SoRSA Conference.
We believe that the benefits of an in-person conference significantly outweigh any change to a virtual format, which would also be extremely difficult to provide at this late stage and would also result in significant financial loss to SoRSA due to commitments with the Hotel.
CIHT is therefore suggesting that you start to consider what your travel plans home will look like if the strike does go ahead as planned.
Several options we suggest considering are:
If you do have any concerns or issues surrounding your ability to get back home, please do contact us on conferences@ciht.org.uk or +44 (0)20 7336 155 (option 6) and we will do everything we can to assist.
This year’s SoRSA conference will be taking place on 20-21 June 2022 at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Manchester Airport.
Across the 1.5 days, we will see a mix of presentations from road safety professionals across the industry, interactive workshops, networking sessions, a dinner, and the SoRSA AGM. This event is a must attend for all those working within the Road Safety sector within the UK.
Day one will play host to two workshops that will focus on ‘First Response’ which will include going through scenario management led by Police Scotland and SoRSA Vice-Chair, Eric Hill as well as an interactive outdoor workshop highlighting the challenges that some vulnerable road users experience led by the Royal National Institute of Blind People. We will also hear from a UK Government Security Advisor who will provide a Protective Security update.
At the end of day one, delegates are welcome to attend the SoRSA AGM at 17:30. All are welcome to attend, but only active SoRSA Members are permitted to vote. Please note that you do need to register for the AGM separately on the AGM Event webpage. The conference dinner will commence at 19:30 and will provide guests with the opportunity to network with friends, colleagues, and industry peers.
Day two of the conference will see speakers presenting on a number of key topics including eScooters which will cover the nationwide trials, logistics, anti-social behaviour, and enforcement rounded off with a presentation by a representative of PACTS on their recently published findings into the road safety of eScooters. A representative of the Smart Motorway Alliance will present an update on the delivery of Smart Motorways following the publication of the government response to the Transport Select Committee report. Presentations will also provide an insight on the delivery of hostile vehicle mitigation features on London Bridges as well as the results of visibility research undertaken for CIHT. The day will then conclude with the ever popular ‘Is this a Problem?’ session.
Each day will count as 6-hours of CPD. Post event, all attendees will be able to access and complete the CPD Certificate through the CIHT website.
We are excited to welcome back previous and long-standing SoRSA Members as well as new colleagues for the first in person SoRSA Conference in 2-years.
At this year's conference day one will count as 6-hours of CPD and day two will count as 6-hours of CPD. Please note that we do strongly encourage you to attend the entire conference and all sessions that are scheduled to take place to make the most of your attendance and get the best CPD available.
Please complete and download your certificate here.
The hotel has onsite parking which is managed on a first come first served basis and is non-guaranteed. CIHT and the Hotel encourage all delegates too attend via public transport or walking and to only use parking facilities as a last resort.
