Arbitration is one of the most common types of dispute resolution methods used in the construction industry to resolve disputes with a degree of finality, and arbitration clauses are embedded in practically all standard forms of building and engineering contracts in some shape or form. Yet, as important as they are, dispute resolution provisions are often the least looked-at among other commercial terms during the contract negotiation stage. This seminar will explore what constitutes valid arbitration agreements and more generally the legal and practical aspects of drafting multi-tiered dispute resolution provisions that are commonly seen in building and engineering contracts.
This technical seminar is tailored to cater to civil engineers of all levels, including those at various grades.
Mr. Jason Leung - Partner, Mayer Brown Jason is a partner in the Hong Kong office of Mayer Brown. He focuses on construction-related legal proceedings, including litigation and arbitration arising from domestic and international construction projects. |
The technical seminar will be conducted in English and online registration is required. The number of participants is limited to 20 and applications will be accepted subject to the seats available. Priority will be given to CIHT Members and CICES Members. Deadline for the registration is on 6 December 2024.
