Join us for this site walk through of the Westhoughton Market Street Improvement Scheme - Continuous Footways.
Malcolm Fairhurst, Senior Engineering Manager at Bolton Council, will introduce Bolton’s Westhoughton Market Street Improvements project. The project won Project of the year (under £5 million) at CIHTs 2024 North West Awards. Malcolm will host a walkthrough of the scheme highlighting the project and its successes with opportunities for questions. Notable features are the provision of a number of continuous footways.
This event is open to both members and non-members of CIHT. It will be of particular interest to Transport Planning, Highways Engineers, Sustainable/ Active Travel Practitioners.
Malcolm Fairhurst, Senior Engineering Manager, Bolton Council
Malcolm has 37 years experience in highways design and construction. Malcolm is responsible for the design and implementation of highway schemes for Bolton Council. He has managed a wide range of schemes from resurfacing works to new roads, public realm and junction improvements. In recent years a lot of the Council’s projects have involved active travel schemes improving the street environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
