Appointments to the Board of Trustees - Call for expressions of interest?

The Board of Trustees is made up of the President, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Vice President, Immediate Past President, Honorary Treasurer, and up to eight Voting Members to be elected by the Council. Members are invited to nominate suitable candidates for the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Vice President and Honorary Treasurer roles.

The President is the member facing, outward facing, external face of CIHT - the ambassador for highways and transportation. The role description for the President role can be found here. The member appointed to the Vice President role will automatically become President after a one-year term. Vice Presidents can expect to be very actively involved in Institution activities for 3 years - 1 as Vice President, 1 as President and one as Immediate Past President. 

The Chair of the Board of Trustees is a 2-year role, renewable once. The postholder has to be a Corporate Member of the Institution (i.e. a Fellow or a Member). The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees, enabling it to fulfill its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of CIHT. The Honorary Treasurer works in close cooperation with, and provides support and advice to, the CEO and the Director of Corporate and Business Services and is the Board of Trustees champion on all things financial. The role description for this role can be found here

Members are invited to nominate suitable candidates for the these roles via email to Sue Percy by Friday 11 April. The Nominations Panel will review all nominations and make a recommendation to Council for election at the meeting scheduled on 18 June.

Any person being nominated will need to provide a summary statement in support of the expression of interest – this should be a statement (max 2 pages) to highlight their relevant knowledge and experience related to the requirements of the role and their motivations to be considered for appointment to the position.
