"Governments have repeatedly declared their intentions to create a healthy society, fight climate change, reduce poverty, strengthen local communities and tackle many other vital issues but the schemes that are eventually built do not reflect those goals." said CIHT Chief Executive, Sue Percy.
To tackle this challenge, CIHT are aiming to develop new guidelines 'Better planning, better transport, better places', that will help decisions be made about how we build and manage our towns and cities. The guidelines are being produced by a CIHT working group led by Lynda Addison, Chair of the CIHT Sustainable Transport Panel.
Lynda says: "We need to look at the holistic integration of planning and transport. As a sector, we cannot deliver the streets and homes we want without professions working together."
