The Bus Centre of Excellence (BCoE) and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) welcomed a delegation from Singapore, including government officials and bus operators.

The delegation visited the BCoE and CIHT with the intent of engaging international experts to seek out best practices that Singapore can consider to enhance its public bus safety.

The Singaporean delegation comprised representatives from Singapore's Ministry of Transport, Land Transport Authority, National Transport Worker Union, as well as bus operators like Go-Ahead Singapore, SBS Transit, SMRT Buses, and Tower Transit Singapore.

The session opened with a welcome to the visitors, introduction of the various organisations and individuals present. Mr Murali Pillai, Singapore's Minister of State for Transport and Law, made opening remarks and outlined the delegation's purpose for visiting.

Representatives from BCoE and CIHT provided an introduction to CIHT and explained the membership structure, including member profiles. They also outlined the CIHT Partners Network and the work of CIHT international.

An overview of the BCoE was given, detailing its membership processes, member profiles, and the collaborative relationship between BCoE and CIHT.

The Department for Transport (DfT) was also introduced, highlighting its role in enhancing bus services .

The Bus Knowledge Sharing and Incidents (KSI) Network was then discussed, including its purpose, membership composition, focus areas, operational framework, achievements to date, key insights from the network, and considerations regarding the safety of autonomous buses.

BCoE and CIHT look forward to continuing the relationship established with the Singaporean Government and delegation and continuing to internationally share industry best practise.”
