CIHT Hong Kong was established back in October 1984 in response to the wish of some one hundred and fifty members who were currently engaged in highway projects in Hong Kong. Some of these members were local residents whilst others were expatriates. It was founded as a learned society in Hong Kong in 1985. This marks 2024-25 as the 40th Anniversary of the CIHT Hong Kong group and what a celebration it has been so far!
Since the AGM in June 2024, CIHT Hong Kong has hosted a series of successful 12 events attended by over 600 participants:

With much more to come in the rest of 2025, including a visit from the CIHT CEO & President!
CIHT Hong Kong held a delegation visit to the UAE from 11 – 16 December 2024 with twenty delegates engaged in enriching professional exchanges and cultural experiences with our gracious UAE hosts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The thoughtfully curated program facilitated valuable knowledge sharing and networking opportunities in the construction, infrastructure, and transportation sectors.
CIHT Hong Kong extends its heartfelt appreciation to CIHT Dubai for their enthusiastic support in facilitating connections with local government departments and organizations. The delegation visited Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) headquarters of Abu Dhabi and Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai. Both officials from Dubai and Abu Dhabi provided exceptional support and arranged comprehensive technical visits, allowing us to gain fresh perspectives on sustainable urban mobility and smart infrastructure development.
Our delegation also conducted two enriching technical visits to Dubai, exploring cutting-edge developments in construction and transportation, including projects managed by Chinese contractors. Highlights of the trip included a visit to uSky Transport & Infrastructure Solutions, where we explored innovative string transport technology, and Masdar City, UAE's pioneering sustainable urban development.
The delegation also participated in a dynamic webinar on urban mobility challenges, hosted jointly by CIHT Hong Kong and CIHT Dubai. CIHT Hong Kong and CIHT Dubai also organised a webinar at University of Wollongong, Dubai, discussing “Past Challenges and Future Opportunities in Mobility in Hong Kong and the Middle East”.
CIHT Dubai Chair, Martin Tillman shared valuable insights into Dubai's mobility landscape, while CIHT Hong Kong Chair Raymond Pau presented Hong Kong's unique transportation perspective. The dynamic discussion that followed brought together diverse viewpoints from both physical and virtual attendees, highlighting the common challenges and innovative solutions in both cities.
A “meet-and-greet” dinner was held between committees of CIHT Hong Kong and CIHT Dubai was held after the webinar, where both CIHT Hong Kong and CIHT Dubai had an opportunity to network and strengthen professional relationships. Between the site visits and professional meetings, the Hong Kong delegates enjoyed sightseeing to experience Dubai's world-renowned architecture and vibrant culture. The cross-continental exchange was an exciting opportunity to gain fresh perspectives and strengthen the global CIHT community.
Our delegates wrapped up an incredible journey, combining professional enrichment with unforgettable experiences in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While advancing infrastructure partnerships and knowledge exchange with local agencies, our team embraced the region's cultural treasures and modern marvels, including the architectural masterpiece of Louvre Abu Dhabi, the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa, and the exhilarating Desert Safari adventure.
This successful delegation has strengthened the ties between CIHT Hong Kong and our UAE counterparts, paving the way for future collaborations and knowledge sharing in the infrastructure and transportation sectors.
The 40th Anniversary Cocktail Reception was held at the Conrad Hong Kong on 17 January 2025 evening. About 138 members and industry professionals gathered to commemorate four decades of contributions to Hong Kong's transport infrastructure.
The celebration kicked off with inspiring welcome addresses from Mr. Raymond Pau, CIHT Hong Kong Chair, and Ms. Sue Percy, CBE, CIHT Chief Executive.
