After an enforced break due to Covid, the 2024 Study Tour took members and partners to Glasgow on the 15 to 17 May 2024.
On the first day, delegates were given a tour and behind the scenes look at Glasgow Central Station, walking through subterranean passageways beneath Glasgow’s streets and visiting railway vaults that drove Glasgow’s industrial expansion.
The second day began with a visit to the site of the Govan to Partick Bridge, followed by a presentation on the project delivered by Farrans and delegates were also taken on a tour of the site.
The next stop on day two was the site of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside, GRAHAM provided an overview of the project and concluded with a site tour.
The second day concluded with an afternoon cycle ride of Glasgow’s South City Way with Glasgow City Council, viewing some of the recently completed and some currently under construction active travel schemes. Delegates also heard about the overarching strategy for Glasgow and the development of ‘liveable neighbourhoods’ and how the plans are contributing to the regeneration of the city.
