CIHT featured on BBC Radio today (26 Feb 2013) - the second time in the past week.
CIHT's Road Safety Panel Chair, Kate Carpenter, was interviewed live on the Breakfast Show of BBC Wiltshire with Ben Prater. Kate discussed the safety aspects and benefits of fixed concrete barriers on motorways, in light of the current central reservation replacement works on the M4.
The interview is now available to listen to on the
BBC website here. The story begins at 1:39:50 into the programme and Kate’s interview starts at 1:42:30.
Kate also represented CIHT on BBC Somerset Radio last week. Kate discussed the impact of local authority budgets on a number of transport issues; including the design life of traffic signals, the need to keep traffic flowing, technology behind the signals and the role investment in infrastructure has to play in promoting economic growth. Kate highlighted the Insitution's concerns about the loss of skilled staff in the public sector that are needed to ensure that informed decisions are made.
