The appointment of Heidi Alexander MP follows the resignation of Louise Hague MP (29 November 2024).

Alexander was elected as the Member of Parliament for Swindon South in the 2024 General Election. She was previously the Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice from the 8 July 2024 to 29 November 2024 and held the post of Shadow Health Secretary from 2015-16.
Alexander has a strong background in transport policy. Having served as Deputy Mayor for Transport, under Sadiq Khan from 2018 – 2021 and Deputy Chair of Transport for London, during which Alexander was heavily involved with delivering the new Elizabeth Underground Line and keeping London's public transport network running during the COVID-19 pandemic.

London) Mayor’s transport strategy where there was a clear focus on delivering an increasingly accessible transport system, encouraging active travel and an integrated transport system for London.
CIHT is looking forward to engaging with Heidi and will continue to support the government in the delivery of key initiatives including the recently announced integrated transport strategy.
