Sue Percy CBE, Chief Executive, CIHT said: 

“We welcome the Conservative Party’s manifesto's release and the announcement of multiple policies that complement the ideas presented in the CIHT Manifesto, "A Transport Network Fit for all our Futures’.”  

The Conservative Party Manifesto outlines how the party would:

• increase investment in road maintenance
• fund the Midlands Rail Hub and improve accessibility at 100 Train stations
• provide £1 billion to support new bus routes across the North and Midlands and extend the £2
• bus fare cap in England for the entirety of the next Parliament
• boost reliable transport links
• make sure local authorities use the Infrastructure Levy to fund roads and other required local infrastructure 
• invest £36 billion in local roads, rail and buses.

“We welcome the focus by the Conservative Party on providing support for highways and transport infrastructure and their manifesto commitments to support local road maintenance. CIHT will be working with governments post-election to explore new ways of funding our local highway network.”
