The GG 119 providing the requirements for road safety audit for highway schemes on the trunk road and motorway network has been published. The publication replaces HD 19/15 making it compliant with the new Highways England drafting rules and is aimed at all parties involved in the road safety audit process. Technical content changes have also been incorporated in the new document.
Carrying out a road safety audit process is an important part of designing and providing safe roads. The process is undertaken at key stages in the development of highway schemes from the design phase through to construction and early operation. By adhering to the road safety audit process as specified in the GG 119 qualified road safety auditors should be able to identify aspects of schemes that potentially could lead to road safety problems and suggest appropriate amendments.
The guidelines come into immediate effect and can be found here.
