Highways and Transport Commissioning – Taunton

Two senior posts are available in the Transport Policy team, providing technical guidance and expertise to shape policy, develop strategies and commission services to improve transport and support growth and development in Somerset.

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager – Transport Policy you will lead task-based project teams assembled from a pool of expert and support resources to create the evidence base and policy framework for decision making on transport issues. You will seek internal, external and government funding to commission transport activities and appropriate delivery services within established budgets and monitor performance. You will also provide line management to officers in the transport policy team.

Technical Lead – Projects and Studies

Hours: 37 hours per week.
Salary: £30,851-£34,549 (Ref No: 5945/A/DHJ/TPJ)

You will lead on technical transport studies, devising transport strategies to address a variety of key issues by defining appropriate methods for obtaining appropriate evidence/ data, assessing and analysing the evidence and determining appropriate solutions.

Technical Lead – Sustainable Transport

Hours: 37 hours per week. Fixed term contract for 9 months
Salary: £30,851-£34,549 (Ref No: 5945/B/DHJ/TPJ)

You will focus on the support and delivery of non-car modes of travel (e.g. walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing) by advising on the creation of environments and infrastructure that support active travel, identifying and commissioning appropriate support services and public-facing campaigns to encourage people to switch some journeys to non-car modes.
