Atkins is looking to appoint a traffic signal engineer undertaking all aspects of traffic signals, from inception through to operation.
The successful candidate will have a experience in the field of traffic signal design, implementation and/or operation and will either have achieved or be working towards incorporated or chartered engineer status. ??Responsible for undertaking and developing schemes both in the UK and overseas, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong awareness of CDM and health and safety issues.
Locally managed but working as part of a successful UK wide traffic signals team, team working is extremely important to this role however the successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate an ability to use their own initiative to deliver excellence on each of their projects.
An efficient and accurate working style with attention to detail is required and flexibility in order to meet project requirements should be expected.

As a senior consultant you will be providing a senior technically focussed role for the D&PR SL from our Birmingham office. Reporting to a Line Manager in the Midlands CS business, you will be responsible for the technical delivery and client management of projects, including:
- Project management for a range of development and public realm transportation planning projects;
- Leading on technical work and the technical supervision of project team staff;
- Supporting the development of the technical skills of staff; and
- Business development and work winning from internal and external clients.

Atkins’ Highways Consultancy Services is a centre of excellence for the design of major highway infrastructure projects. Our clients include the Highways Agency, Transport for London and major contractors. We undertake the design of major schemes such as M25 Widening for Skanska Balfour Beatty and Walton Bridge for Costain. We also support our overseas offices with design and assessment work, particularly in Hong Kong and the Middle East.
Within the business is a strong bridge design team of about 30 engineers, who not only undertake the design of structures for major projects, but also have their own portfolio of technically interesting bridge design and research projects. We now require a Senior Bridge Engineer with particular experience of structural steelwork to join our team in Epsom, Birmingham and Warrington to lead bridge design and assessment teams on a variety of technically challenging projects. You will take responsibility for technical delivery and will be expected to contribute to the technical development of the bridges team by disseminating knowledge locally and more widely across the Atkins bridge engineering community. In doing so, you will develop your own technical expertise through liaising with our worldwide network of bridge engineers.
