Sue Percy CBE, Chief Executive, CIHT said:
“We welcome the publication of this manifesto, and we are pleased to see several policies announced which align with those outlined in the CIHT Manifesto ‘A Transport Network Fit for all our Futures’.”
The Liberal Democrat Manifesto contains an emphasis on ‘safe, reliable transport system(s)’ in addition to pledges to invest in clean public transport and encouragement towards active travel such as walking and cycling.
Sue Percy CBE, Chief Executive, CIHT said:
“Alongside other commitments CIHT is pleased to see recognition of the need for investment in local roads and infrastructure. CIHT has consistently called for a need to reallocate the funding for local highways and we welcome the Liberal Democrat’s pledge to support this and (allocate) more of the roads budget to local councils to maintain existing roads, pavements and cycleways, including repairing potholes’.
CIHT is looking forward to engaging and working with all major political parties, working to ensure a transport network that benefits the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
