In this latest episode of CIHT’s podcast “Transport Talks” we spoke to Dr. Lalitha Krishnamoorthy, AI and Digital Lead at Stantec and co-author of the new CIHT Learn course “Introduction to AI in Transportation”.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy talks us through what Artificial Intelligence (AI) is, how it works and why it has grasped the attention of transport professionals.

 AI can be thought as the development of systems embedded in an environment of data, with the capacity of making decisions and act to achieve a specific purpose. As Dr. Krishnamoorthy tells us, while the theory behind AI has been around for many years, the application of it took off in the late 90s with the use of sensors and the increased amount of data we were able to collect and store. AI became a way to organise, analyse and use the data collected.
