The UK government has launched a consultation on regulating on-street micromobility (OSM) schemes. The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Tuesday 28th January 2025 and seeks views on proposed licensing approaches.
Shared micromobility schemes, predominantly of shared cycles, including e-cycles, have been present in the UK since 2010. The Government plans to regulate On-Street Micromobility (OSM) schemes to maximise their benefits and limit their negative impacts.
