As you are already aware Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the highways and transportation sector in many ways.  It is essential that individuals and organisations in the sector get up to speed with the technology

Therefore, we are excited to announce the launch of the new CIHT Learn e-learning course Introduction to AI in Transportation, designed to demistify AI, boost your knowledge, learn from real-world application and where appropriate how to unlock value from this technology.

To ensure the course delivers expert guidance we have developed it in partnership with Dr. Lalitha Krishnamoorthy, AI and Digital Lead at Stantec, and her colleagues.  Lalitha has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, she is an author (“Open Source for Dummies”) and a renowned keynote speaker.  She is recognised as a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador and LinkedIn's Top Voice for Executive Management.  She is also the winner of the 2024 Women in AI Asia Pacific (APAC) for AI in Infrastructure.

  1. Describe the history and evolution of different types of AI.
  2. Define and explain the fundamental concepts and terminologies related to AI such as such as Big Data, machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, and algorithms
  3. Understand the importance of data in AI and appreciate the skills needed for optimal data collection and storage.
  4. Explain common machine learning algorithms, such as decision trees, neural networks, and support vector machines.
  5. Outline the typical stages of an AI project lifecycle, from problem definition and data collection to model deployment and monitoring.
  6. Discuss the ethical considerations and challenges associated with AI, such as bias and accountability.
  7. Gain an appreciation of how to assess whether AI is the right tool for your project.
  8. Explore real-world applications of AI in transport.
