Almost 80 delegates gathered together at the Emirates Old Trafford venue in Manchester to hear from a range of industry experts in the highways and transportation sector.

The conference was opened by Alex Parkin, CIHT North West Chair, who welcomed attendees. The morning session, chaired by CIHT Past President, Chris Jackson, saw presentations from:

Darren Oldham, Transport for the North, on topics related to the Strategic Transport Plan;
Richard Nickson, Transport for Greater Manchester, on The Bee Network;
Mike Peet, AMNI Transportation, Accessibility Considerations in Project Design;
Tom Jarvis, Transport for the North, on Connecting Communities and Tackling Transport Related Social Exclusion;
and Sonia Smith, Amey, on Liverpool City Centre Connectivity, Lime Street

The afternoon session was chaired by long standing CIHT North West committee member, Barry Heaps. This session included presentations from:

Benn Teasdale, Colas, on An In-Situ Carriageway Recycling Process;
Professor Aoife Foley, Chair in Net Zero Infrastructure, University of Manchester;
Adam Adamson, Transport for the North, on Regional Decarbonisation Strategy;
Will Foulkes, WSP, on Developing a Future-Ready Highway Network;
and Richard Hayes on National Winter Service Research Group Guidelines.

As well as the excellent presentations, panel discussions and Q&A which followed each session, the delegates also had opportunities to network and to visit the exhibition stands.
