Approved Training Provider Scheme

From 2024 we are improving the way we badge CPD. We are pleased to offer all training providers delivering sector relevant training the opportunity to be recognised as a ‘CIHT Approved Training Provider’, but also to gain an ‘Approved for CPD by CIHT badge’ for your face-to-face courses.

This badge demonstrates to people that your face-to-face CPD activities are a source of high quality CPD for highways and transportation professionals and can be awarded for courses, conferences and CPD events, provided they meet the required criteria.

The badge will be awarded annually and, on a course-by-course basis, meaning training providers will need to apply for recognition for each course, but will be able to run it multiple times in the year.

Why become a CIHT Approved Training Provider?

CIHT Approved status is a mark of quality that the Institution awards to training providers who meet the CIHT standards for training content and delivery. Being an Approved Training Provider (ATP) carries many benefits, including:

  • Recognition for your organisations training as an industry benchmark.
  • The value of being associated with the UKs leading highways and transportation institution.
  • Listing on CIHT Website
  • One face-to-face course approval included
  • Approved Training Provider Logo
  • Approved for CPD Logo

The CIHT approved training provider scheme enables CIHT Members and other professionals to access, identify and undertake appropriate training courses that meet a high standard.

As an approved provider, you will have:

Please complete and submit the below application forms to apply to become a 'CIHT Approved Training Provider'. As the cost of one face-to-face course approval is included in the application process, please complete and submit both application forms together to apply for an ‘Approved for CPD by CIHT badge’ for one of your face-to-face courses.

Organisations will be required to fulfil the minimum criteria and standards outlined in both of the forms.

Fees

Approved Training Providers need to pay an annual approval fee which includes the approval of one face-to-face course/conference or event. Additional courses would be approved for a fee, which would be different for not-for profit and commercial organisations:

Q: Who can apply to be a CIHT Approved Training Provider?

A: If you are a training provider who delivers high quality, face-to-face, sector relevant training courses, conferences and or CPD events for highways and transportation professionals, you will be given the opportunity to be recognised as a CIHT Approved Training Provider. Q: Do you need to submit both the 'Provider Application form' and the 'Individual Course Application form' together at the same time?

A: For the first course application, yes, please submit both applications forms together. Once you are approved as a CIHT approved training provider, you only need to submit application forms for any further individual face-to-face courses you would like to have approved.
