The Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification has been designed to provide professional recognition for transport planners, whilst encouraging the development of skills needed to tackle the major challenges facing the transport sector. Applicants who successfully achieved Transport Planning Professional are eligible to be registered as Chartered Transport Planning Professionals (CTPP)
Chartered Engineer (CEng) is one of the most recognised engineering qualifications. Chartered Engineers develop solutions to complex engineering problems.
Incorporated Engineer (IEng) demonstrates that you are a competent engineer committed to professional standards of engineering practice.
Engineering Technician (EngTech) demonstrates that you can apply engineering techniques and procedures to solve practical engineering problems.
Depending on which qualifications you are aiming for there are different academic standards which you need to demonstrate. Whichever qualification you are considering, the first stage in the process is to submit a request for an initial assessment so that CIHT can confirm the options and best route available to you.
Initial Assessment for CEng, IEng and EngTech
Initial Assessment for Chartered Transport Planning Professional
This takes less than five minutes to complete and simply requires you to upload a copy of your CV and any relevant educational certificates. We will then aim to provide you with an initial assessment outcome e-mail within 5 working days.
If you are registered as a Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer, or Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council through another institution and you wish to transfer your registration to CIHT, we ensure it is a straightforward process.

I have found the CIHT review application process to be straight forward and very well organised. The Education Team were very helpful, and always provided detailed information in a short period of time when I required advice. I would recommend the CIHT to colleagues seeking similar professional qualifications.
Stuart Baird, Amey
I found the application process for the IEng standard route straight forward, any questions I did have were easily resolved by the education department. Although I was nervous about the interview, my mind was put at ease from when I first arrived at the venue, where I was greeted by a senior member of the institute. The panel were very friendly and made me feel comfortable as we discussed my submission.
Ross Anderson, Aberdeenshire Council
