Please see below regarding how CIHT will be continuing to operate and provide services to members
Please read the following updated information on how CIHT will continue to operate and provide services to members as Covid 19 restrictions are eased.
For CIHT Members, we have increased the online offer and expanded our use of webinars, podcasts, video and additional digital content to provide enhanced services. We will continue to expand these services.
To contact staff you can a) call t: +44 (0)20 7336 1555 and follow the switchboard option, b) email: membership@ciht.org.uk or c) email a particular member of staff via their email address - a full list is available here.
For CIHT Staff, we have been working remote and continue to support the Institution’s business and its members. We are in the process of beginning a phased return to the office which will see staff returning over the next few months. As we adapt to more flexible working the best form of contact will remain as above.
For CIHT volunteers, as the UK continues to open up, we are no longer suspending all travel on behalf of the Institution. We have worked hard over the last year with our regional / national committees to successfully facilitate activities through other means e.g. use of online technology to deliver digital events and meetings. We will continue to review how and when we will need to travel in light of changing circumstances and our ongoing commitment to reducing the Institution’s carbon footprint.
For Space@119 and CIHT’s office at Britannia Walk, we are not accepting external bookings and meetings (except by exception) until at least the end of October (when we will review the position based on the latest government guidance).
For CIHT regional / national events, we are still operating a digital first approach to events. We are in the process of evaluating when and how we will begin to introduce face to face events. Our Regional Engagement Officers will continue to be in contact with their relevant committees to facilitate and support AGMs, remote meetings, digital events and other activity including the potential return of local dinners etc. For any event-based queries, please contact us on e: conferences@ciht.org.uk
For Professional Reviews, we continue to deliver remote professional reviews and are expanding this service. We will be in contact with those involved to discuss alternative activities and ongoing support. For more details on any education queries, please contact e: education@ciht.org.uk
These decisions have been taken after reviewing the latest government guidelines and our desire to ensure we provide a safe working and meeting environment for members and staff alike. We are constantly reviewing these decisions as things progress and are continuing to extend the digital services we provide.
Please note all the above will be subject to review as government advice develops and changes and please be aware that this may be subject to local, regional, national and international differences.
If you have any queries, please contact e: info@ciht.org.uk or contact t: +44 (0)20 7336 1555
The recently formed Highways Sector Council (HSC), in which CIHT is a core member, has published practical guidance for the local highways.
The ‘COVID-19 Local Highways Safe Operating Procedures document’, developed by the HSC’s COVID-19 focus working group, is designed to address the specific issues faced by local highways maintenance workers against the backdrop of the coronavirus.
Although based upon the construction industry guidance created by the Construction Leadership Council, the HSC guidance goes further, and addresses specific challenges related to the local highways sector. In particular, it specifically considers operational highways activity at maintenance and improvements sites, as well as at highway depots.
It provides guidance on social distancing and avoiding close working, handwashing, cleaning, travel, site access, eating arrangements and procedures to follow if someone falls ill.
As lockdown restrictions begin to ease in England, the government has issued new advice on returning to work. Please find the latest advice linked below.
